The importance of health education and management in our rural communities has always been in the front burner in global discussion. We have identified the prevalence of High Blood Pressure (hypertension) and Low Blood Pressure (hypotension) as a major health challenge with it's inherent and attendant consequences on the wellbeing of people. This is a major cause of concern not just for the elderly, but also for middle aged adults. High Blood Pressure has been succinctly termed as the "Silent Killer" in an article of the American Heart Association.
In order to prevent and reduce the instance of sudden collapse of affected adults and adolescents in our host communities, we have therefore identified that the provision of Home Blood Pressure Measuring Machines is of utmost significance and would impact greatly in reducing adult incapacitation and mortality in our host communities. We are therefore embarking on the purchase and distribution of about 300 Blood Pressure Measuring Machines and provision the corresponding education and training required for their effective use.
We will engage local health authorities to educate and enlighten the rural populace on the use and importance of these machines which we will provide for them at no cost to the individual beneficiaries. It is our firm belief that this project will go a long way in tackling the prevalence of the syndrome of "Silent Killer" in our beneficiary community which in this instance will be in Idanre, Ondo State, Nigeria.
