How We Work

The aim of SDF is to locate, assist and support the most indigent and economically exposed persons in our rural communities. By this we mean to provide decent and affordable housing, provide health care services and other social amenities to make their lives more bearable in the hinterland.

At SDF we are focusing on the four major human development index which are food, shelter, clothing and health.

Mission

FOOD

This is the most basic of all human needs and our interventionist efforts are channeled towards assisting our target communities/individuals in ensuring that they have a minimum of two decent meals per day. It is our firm belief that a lot of the vices and social evils being perpetrated in the hinterland will be curtailed, if not totally eliminated by ensuring that people can eat at least twice daily.

SHELTER

In our sojourns in the various communities, we have identified that a lot of homes and houses are still being built with clay and are in a state of decay, rot and abandonment. Many of these homes are dilapidated; missing roofs, side walls and decent coverings. We assist such indigent homes to refurbish the accommodation by helping to repair, rebuild and replace the affected portions of the houses to make them safe for human habitation.

CLOTHING

The provision of decent clothing is another major area for SDF. In this aspect we realize that kids and young adults are the most vulnerable when it comes to lack of access to decent clothes. Many of them are exposed to the harsh weather conditions that are prevalent in our communities on a yearly basis. Many young adolescent girls often go about in tattered clothes and garments, exposing their bodies and making them victims of rape and other forms of sexual abuse.
We purchase used clothes from the USA, UK and Canada and ship them to Nigeria and further distribute to these individuals through a well-established channel of logistics using our local community volunteer network.

HEALTH

The medical outreach, of SDF, is a social intervention for the less-privileged targeted at helping the needy. The foundation offered free medical diagnosis to the poor and vulnerable and also empower people in various communities.

We offer free medical check-up for malaria, hypertension, amongst other diagnostic in order to promote healthy generation in our country. Our target is to reach out to as many as possible, even though we cannot satisfy the needs of all, but to ensure that we made some effort in lmpacting the livelihoods of the people in the benefactors.

We focused more on health because we realised that many in the rural communities are facing difficulties to get medical checkups and attentions.

BENEFICIARY COMMUNITIES

We work in conjunction with the leaders/traditional institutions in our beneficiary communities to deliver on our mandate. These are the people that know the indigent individuals in the local communities and we rely greatly on the information they provide in identifying the specific individuals that are in the direst needs of our interventionist programmes.
We also have community project officers whose duty is to relate directly with our target individuals to ensure that the programmes aims and objectives are successfully implemented with the direct beneficiaries being impacted. This they do with evidence in videos photos and periodic reports, which are thoroughly vetted and reconfirmed by the board of SDF on a quarterly basis.
